What was the theme followed in the kid’s room?
Kids room is generally designed keeping in mind their interest level. If the kid has a special liking for a specific theme, it is best to incorporate it in their space. As the kid would be spending a considerable amount of time in this space, it is important to design it in such a way that it reflects their personality and gives a unique character to the space. In the Mahesh Lad project, the kid had a special liking for cars. The main highlight of this kid’s space is the bed that has a unique car design with wheels on a normal bed. Resemblance of car design gives a unique look and feel to the space and adds a designer touch to the kid’s space.
Tell us about the colour scheme used?
To add a sober touch to the kid’s space, we used a combination of beige, magenta and light violet colour in the kid’s area. You will find beige colour used above the wardrobe and overhead storage. Dark magenta shade was used for the car design and light violet was used for the study table.
What were the decorative elements used in the kid’s area?
We have given cantilever shelf and open decorative book shelf to accommodate kid’s books, toys etc. To add a unique character to the room, we used curtains with cartoon design. Other options that can be used for furnishings are floral or alphabetical design keeping the interest of the inhabitant in mind. For the mattress too, you can have designs inspired by cricket or alphabets. LED lights and false ceiling with white and dark beige shade for bands of the false ceiling decks up the space beautifully.
